The Longest 18 hours

I have the flu.

And 3 kids.

And everything that entails. I'm talking burning hot yet covered in goose bumps, nausea, aches in places I didn't know had muscles, and the amazing ability to lie still while yelling at 3 kids.

I also think I'm delirious since I'm pretty sure I just saw Mason sneak up behind Hadley and body slam her for stealing his puzzle.

Doesn't being sick just make you miss your mom? My mom always had this amazing chicken cheddar rice soup she made me. Even in 95 degree heat it sounds awesome.

Yesterday at work I was in total denial of being sick. Until I was driving home with the heat blasting, covered in goose bumps. And I'm pretty sure it was about 90 degrees. That was when I succumbed to my plight.

And then I had some Panera soup in my roasting hot room. It never tasted better.

It's funny how being sick brings you back to being a kid.

I was famous for faking sick so I could stay home. Sure, the thermometer on the lamp was always a good one. I would even stick my finger down my throat to throw up. There were also multiple "sprains" and several unecessary trips to the x-ray lab.

I was such an attention needy kid although i have no idea why. Being the youngest certainly got me enough of that. But I can remember in 2nd grade wearing a thimble on my thumb to school and telling people I broke it. My teacher must've thought I was an idiot. Sorry Mrs. Hinson!

I also wore unwound paper clips on my teeth and pretended I had retainer's. Maybe that was the beginning of my life in the dental field. Because seriously, who does that?

The stories go on but I'm sure I've bored you with those.

My adorable son keeps checking in. "Mommy, do you still have owies?"

I tell him yes and I'm sorry I'm no fun. He then quickly finds a cut or a bruise on himself and says "I had an owie right here".

It's his super sweet way of trying to commiserate with me.

I'm hoping this is only 24 hours. If so, I only have 6 hours and 33 minutes to go.

Wish me luck!

I hope you feel better soon, Kari! I did the paper clip retainer thing too. For some reason I thought retainers looked cool... :)
