I know I have been HORRID at keeping up with blogs lately. I guess life is just catching up to me.
This one will be brief. I just wanted to update you on Joel. For those of you who don't know, we spent the weekend in Winter Park with the church. We came home Sunday afternoon and Joel was feeling horrible the whole ride home. By the time we got home, we thought he had been hit with food poisoning. It was so awful we sent Mason to my parents for the night.
By the middle of the night, the pain had localized to his lower right side, sending off obvious warning bells towards the appendix. By 11 the next morning, we were in the ER, having a CAT scan done, and being told he needed to have to his appendix removed.
The surgery was originally set for 9:30 that night but he was in such horrible shape they kept moving it up. Apparently, as we found out later, the infection was so massive that his body wouldn't keep up with the pain meds. We also found out it was perforating causing him extensive pain that the meds couldn't help with. The Dr. was shocked that Joel hadn't been experiencing pain all weekend given the condition of the appendix.
The surgery went well and he only had to stay in the hospital for one night. We're beginning the long process of recovery now. I keep laughing at him because he walks like I did after a C-Section!
We appreciate all of your prayers during the surgery and also as he recovers. Please pray for Mase too as he's trying to understand all of this and is wondering why he can't jump on daddy like normal!
That really wasn't brief, was it?
